About the Programme
This summer I led a two-week sculpture intensive for teenagers at Masterworks Museum, set outdoors on the Onion Patch under a tent next to the museum. Working across clay, plaster, wire, latex, and resin, students journeyed from two-dimensional mark-making into three-dimensional form.
Beyond the materials, this was about teaching a real art practice — how to think deeply, create with intention, and find meaning in making. Each day began with an optional meditative walk through the gardens, a quiet counterpoint to screen-saturated lives.
The programme was covered twice by The Royal Gazette, and the final exhibition was hosted at the LOM Building on Reid Street — a genuinely joyful experience, and one that returns in summer 2027.
The intensive introduced students to a wide range of sculptural materials and techniques, encouraging them to think beyond traditional two-dimensional art-making and explore the possibilities of contemporary sculpture.
Week One — Exploration
Chalk and pastel mark-making on cardboard — Day 1

Wire armatures, plaster balloon forms and finished sculptural vessels
Alginate hand and body casts, plaster relief work, surface painting and mixed media
Final Exhibition — LOM Building
The students' finished works were exhibited at the LOM Building on Reid Street, transforming the ground floor into a professional gallery space.

Learning Outcomes
1 Developed a working art practice — using a sketchbook to record ideas and experiments
2 Researched artists whose work inspired them and applied findings to their own making

5 Found a balance between screen time and hands-on creativity
